The final act of A Midsummer Night's Dream offers an opportunity for untangling dreams. Titania is freed from her enchantment; Bottom regains his true shape, the lovers are reunited. For all of them, there is a chance to reflect upon whether the night's events were fantasy or reality.
A challenge for the creative team in the Chichester production was successfully creating illusions. The audience must believe in the magic created by the fairies; there must be a clear distinction between the world of the court, and the world ruled over by Oberon and Titania.
